Florfenicol is a broad-spectrum, primarily bacteriostatic, antibiotic with a similar mechanism of action as chloramphenicol (inhibition of protein synthesis). Caution: Recent research shows that florfenicol causes kidney damage to broilers and is toxic to developing chick embryos at around day 5 of incubation.
